3 - 4 years
Toddlers at this age group may be beginning to get the hang of many basic movements. Free play is usually best such as running, dancing, tumbling, throwing, catching and swimming. However, if a 3-year-old is showing a passion for football or hockey, it is worth trying them and make sure the environment is suitable for the kids.
4 -5 years
Kids at this age group can run, jump, throw, showing some balance, but not mature enough to follow direction and speed of moving objects. Learn basic skills and try different things is more important than competing. Entry-level soccer, baseball, swimming, running, gymnastics, skating, dance would help develop later organized sports.
5 - 6 years
Pre-schoolers are getting better movement skills in running, jumping, throwing. Balance is improving
Starting to learn harder skills, and getting better at judging speed of moving objects
Short attention span, still find it hard to remember a lot of details and make fast decisions. Practice basic skills and learn harder skills.
